Cryolipolisis is the breaking down of fat cells, aiming to reduce body fat without causing damage to other tissues. The freezing of the fat cells leads to cell death, the dead fat cells are then digested and excreted from the body. Clinical studies show that Cryolipolysis works with up to a 25% fat reduction per session. One to three sessions are required depending on the amount of fat in the area.
If you’re on a diet or exercise regime and still have stubborn areas of fat then Cryolipolysis is a good option.
Cryolipolysis – Freezing Fat Cells
Throughout the process, specific areas are sucked into a handpiece and cooled, fat cells freeze (apoptosis) die and are excreated, which results in the reduction of fat.
Cryolipolysis Questions and Answers
Other names for the non-surgical freezing of fat cells
Cryogenic lipolysis, Cryolipolysis and Coolsculpting.
What happens during treatment?
Specific areas are sucked into a handpiece and cooled so fat cells freeze, die and are excreted.
How much does it cost
From £495 per area.
Proof that it works?
The treatment is FDA approved and studies prove that patients lose an average of 25 per cent of the fat layer in the treated area and that it is very safe.
What are the common side effects?
Temporary numbness, mild soreness, mild swelling and bruising. Occasionally, some people will experience pain which may require pain pills.
Where does the fat go?
Post treatment you will be the same size as it takes a few months before you see results. The destroyed fat cells will be absorbed by the body’s lymphatic system and drained over several weeks. MLD pre or post treatment will speed recovery time and the removal of the dead cells, remember to recommend a course of MLD with the treatment.
How do we know it doesn’t stay in the blood?
Studies of patients who underwent this treatment had their blood tested. This indicated no rise in fat levels, including cholesterol, in the blood.
Are the treatment results permanent?
Cryolipolysis is the only FDA approved and safety-tested freezing treatment that permanently destroys fat cells, bringing about a permanent reduction of fat in treated areas.
Is there anyone who can’t have the treatment?
Yes, those with liver disease, long-term illness, pregnant women, skin disease or problems with healing. Our Consultant Surgeon will take a full medical history prior to any treatment.
