Juvéderm®
ULTRA is a new generation of dermal fillers from ALLERGAN,
a world leader in surgical and non-surgical aesthetic
products. It’s a natural, biodegradable gel
that flows easily into your skin, instantly filling
out those troublesome lines leaving a smooth and natural
look and feel. So, you’ll notice an immediate
difference after just one treatment.
Possibly the biggest
difference is that ALLERGAN have asked patients what
they want, the most common request is that the injection
experience is more comfortable. ALLERGAN listened
to this feedback and have added lidocaine, an anaesthetic
commonly used by dentists and doctors for local numbing
to Juvéderm® ULTRA in order to improve
the experience, and results seen. The Juvéderm®
family of products last longer than other formulas—at
least 12 months due to the unique way they are made.

ULTRA comes in three formulations for more natural-looking,
customisable results.
Juvéderm®
ULTRA 2 Erases moderate lines, especially those around
the lips and corners of the eyes and those very close
to the surface of the skin.

As time goes by
for many people, the younger they look, the better they
feel about themselves. But age is an unstoppable process
and, as the body grows older so does the skin and, consequently,
its appearance and characteristics change. Age, hormones,
sun exposure, smoking all have a part to play, causing fi
ne lines and wrinkles to develop. Skin feels more fragile
and less elastic. As our age increases, the hyaluronic acid
(HA) content of our skin - which is so important for water
retention - decreases. The oil-producing (sebaceous) glands
become less active and you skin becomes drier. The skin
also loses fat, so it looks less plump and smooth and because
the number of blood
vessels in the skin decreases, the skin loses its youthful
colour and glow. While all these changes are taking place,
gravity is also at work, pulling at the skin, causing it
to sag. Choices Amongst the options available to treat lines
and wrinkles, dermal fillers which contain hyaluronic acid

What happens?
Treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA can be
completed in as little as 15 minutes but it can be longer
depending
on which areas are being treated. Using a very fine needle
your practitioner injects Juvéderm® ULTRA under
the surface of the skin - at shallow levels for fi ne lines
and slightly deeper for more severe wrinkles and folds.
Will the treatment be uncomfortable?
Not only is Juvéderm® ULTRA smooth flowing
so that it can be injected easily and evenly but it contains
lidocaine to help reduce any discomfort during the treatment
and the effects of treatment are apparent immediately.
How long do the effects last?
The duration of effect can depend on age, how much
filler is injected, where it is placed, the quality of the
skin as well
as general health and lifestyle. With Juvéderm®
ULTRA, however, the benefi cial effects can be expected
to last for up to one year after treatment.
What are the side effects?
Following the injection, there may be some redness,
swelling and bruising around the injection site. Most side
effects are mild or moderate in nature and resolve within
a few days, these include, but are not limited to, pain/
tenderness, fi rmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising,
itching and discolouration. There is also a risk of infection
with any injection procedure.
